Lengthsman / Village Caretaker

Role Overview:

As a Lengthsman / Village Caretaker, you will play a vital role in achieving the Parish Council's objective of improving and maintaining environmental and community standards in Calverton. This dynamic role is primarily outdoors, regardless of weather conditions, and offers the chance to make a tangible impact on the village's appearance and pride.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily operation of public toilets, ensuring they are accessible at designated times.
• Routine cleaning of internal and surrounding areas, as well as restocking essential supplies.
• Regular inspections and maintenance of facilities, reporting and rectifying defects as needed.
• Litter picking and general upkeep of public spaces, including council car parks, parks, and open areas.
• Landscaping and horticultural duties, including planting and maintaining flower beds and planters.
• Clearing overgrown vegetation around street fixtures.
• Inspection, cleaning, and minor maintenance of village signs, noticeboards, seats, and waste bins.
• Relief support for caretaking staff at the Village Hall / Wm.Lee Park.
• Addressing minor drainage issues and keeping roadsides tidy.
• Monitoring and reporting salt bin levels during winter months (Oct-Mar).
• Reporting highways issues and defects.
• Maintaining accurate paperwork and records of completed tasks.
• Undertaking other ad-hoc work as directed by the Parish Council.

Position Details:

• Two positions available.
• 16 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off rota.
• Salary: £12.00 per hour.
• Local Government Pension Scheme.

Additional Information:

• Flexible hours, dependent on weather and daylight.
• Occasional opportunities for extra hours.
